Through its Strategy To Accelerate Research program (CMTA-STAR), CMTA funds and supports research around the world. As the largest philanthropic funder of CMT research, CMTA has invested more than $30 million since launching CMTA-STAR in 2008. We remain committed to developing treatments for CMT, improving the lives of everyone affected by the disease, and, ultimately, finding a cure.
This page highlights active and recently completed projects powered by CMTA-STAR. These efforts span genetic discovery, therapy development, biomarker research, and clinical trial readiness, all driven by collaboration between scientists, clinicians, and, most importantly, the CMT community.
Explore the projects to see the science that’s moving us forward and know that none of it would be possible without the generosity, participation, and dedication of the CMT community.
Some research ideas reach a point where early testing answers an important question: Is this work worth continuing? For EverTree Bio, that moment came through early work using the CMTA Preclinical Toolbox.
For people living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, decisions about family planning can raise complex and deeply personal questions. This Under the Microscope installment explores various reproductive options and family planning resources.
