Coldiron Derby
The Coldiron Derby grew out of a long-standing family tradition. For years, the Coldiron family hosted a Kentucky Derby celebration inspired by David Coldiron’s Kentucky roots. In 2015, that tradition took on deeper meaning when their daughter Hazel was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a neurological disorder that affects approximately 1 in 2,500 people.
Since Hazel’s diagnosis, the Coldiron family has been actively involved with the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA), supporting research, advocacy, and programs that help individuals and families living with CMT.
The Coldiron Derby was created as a way to bring the community together to celebrate Derby Day while raising awareness and funds to support the CMTA’s mission to improve lives and advance research toward treatments and a cure.
