David Stark, MD, MS

For David Stark, MD, MS, CMT represents the convergence of the personal and the professional. His son, James, was diagnosed with CMT1B at age four. As a pediatric neurologist and health executive, David was already familiar with CMT and the complexities of navigating the healthcare system for patients with rare diseases. Still, his family experienced a three-year diagnostic odyssey filled with the same uncertainty and persistence that so many CMT families know well.

“I joined CMTA because I’ve seen firsthand how rare disease advocacy can accelerate progress and change lives,” he said. “My goal is to help shorten the path to diagnosis and speed the development of treatments for others like my son.”

David serves as Chief Medical Officer at Citadel and Citadel Securities, leading the firm’s global Health, Benefits, and Peak Performance strategy. He previously served as Chief Medical Officer at Morgan Stanley and was a member of the faculty at the Mount Sinai Health System in NYC, where he founded Lab100, a data-driven preventative health clinic and research platform.

In addition to serving on CMTA’s Board of Directors, David is a Trustee of the Business Group on Health, a coalition of leading global employers advancing innovation in healthcare and workforce well-being.

A board-certified pediatric neurologist and clinical informaticist, David earned his BS in Biology from Yale, his MD from Harvard Medical School, and his MS in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford. He lives in New York City with his husband and their three children.
