Maurizio D’Antonio, PhD

San Raffaele Scientific Institute
Milan, Italy

Maurizio D’Antonio’s lab is mostly interested in the molecular mechanisms underlying demyelinating neuropathies.
For this, Maurizio and his team generated a large series of animal models where they try to dissect the pathomechanism, in order to identify potential therapeutic approaches. For example, they have identified cellular stress, and a mechanism known as the Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) as a key element in several demyelinating form of CMT, and they have shown that this pathway is targetable for therapeutic intervention.
