Steve Lin, PhD

Consultant - Director of R&D Alliances

Steve joined CMTA in 2024 to lead the Preclinical Toolbox program established by CMTA-STAR. The Toolbox includes animal and cell models of CMT subtypes that support fast, cost-effective evaluation of potential treatments. Steve collaborates with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic partners to test promising new therapies for CMT.

A biological scientist by training, Steve earned a degree in biochemistry from Northwestern University and a PhD from Washington University in St. Louis. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Steve spent many years as a research scientist in the biotech industry, later transitioning into scientific business roles focused on preclinical development of cell therapies in both public and private sectors.

Steve lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Mandy, and their three children. In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking and is continually inspired by the strength and support of the CMTA community.
