Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
Support the CMTA through a flexible and tax-efficient charitable-giving account.
Donor-advised funds offer a simple, powerful way to support the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association. You contribute cash or appreciated assets to a tax-exempt sponsoring organization (like Fidelity Charitable or a community foundation) and recommend grants to support causes close to your heart—like ending CMT.
Benefits of giving through a DAF:
- Immediate tax benefits
- Flexibility in timing and amount of donations
- Simpler and more cost-effective than a private foundation

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from IRAs
A smart way for donors 70½ or older to give directly from their IRA.
If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free gift directly from your traditional IRA to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association. These Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and reduce your taxable income—even if you don’t itemize deductions.
Benefits of QCDs:
- Avoid income tax on distributions
- Lower your adjusted gross income
- Fulfill part or all of your RMD
- Make an immediate difference in the CMT community
