The Chester County, PA CMTA Branch is for those who have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and their loved ones. We welcome you to join this vibrant group of active and caring individuals in your area to share resources, ideas, CMT-related information, and personal experiences and to, ultimately, build life-long friendships and support. Meetings will focus on CMT education, awareness, research updates, fundraising initiatives, advocacy, and current events and will include guest speakers. We love newcomers and hope you will join us at our next meeting!
Carol learned of CMT when her daughter was diagnosed in 2007. They are not genetically related, so they were unfamiliar with the disease. There was much to understand, and she and her husband felt overwhelmed. They became members of the CMTA and found the meetings were very valuable to them for not only information, but also for support and sharing ideas and experiences that family members so desperately need. Hoping to give back and continue the learning and support process, Carol has taken on a lead role in the branch. Carol lives in Chadds Ford, PA with her husband, daughter and son. Carol spent her career in Human Resources and recently became a substitute teacher. She enjoys cooking, golf and spending time at the shore in the summer with family and a good book!
Ashley lives in West Chester, PA with her 13-year-old son Jacob and husband Joshua. She graduated from West Chester University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is a licensed CPA. Ashley is currently pursing her Masters in Business Intelligence and Analytics from Saint Joseph's University and leads a data analytics program in the internal audit department for a fortune 500 healthcare management company. Jacob, Ashley, and several members of her family have been diagnosed with CMT2A with varying degrees of severity. Ashley joined the CMTA as a branch leader shortly after her son’s diagnosis to help raise awareness and provide support to other members of the CMT community.
