The Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA), the world’s largest philanthropic funder of research aimed at bringing treatments to patients and improving the lives of those living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), is excited to announce it has awarded the CMTA Center of Excellence designation to Dr. Nakul Katyal, MD at University of Kentucky Neuroscience Institute in Lexington, KY.
Dr. Katyal is an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Kentucky, Lexington. He is an active member of several leading organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the Peripheral Nerve Society. Additionally, he serves as the Young Leadership Liaison for the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
“The Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association is excited to welcome Dr. Nakul Katyal as the new clinic director of the CMTA Center of Excellence at the University of Kentucky Neuroscience Institute,” shared Laurel Richardson, CMTA’s director of community outreach. “Dr. Katyal’s outstanding expertise will provide Kentucky’s CMT community with comprehensive access to diagnostic, therapeutic, and supportive services.”
Dr. Katyal sees adult CMT community members through the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute at the University of Kentucky. The clinic’s multidisciplinary team includes adult neurologists, physical therapists, genetic counselors, and a variety of other services. Staffed by world-renowned expert CMT physicians, clinicians, and researchers, each CMTA Center of Excellence is a patient-focused, multidisciplinary clinic where children, adults, and families affected by CMT receive only the best comprehensive care. Through this new center at University of Kentucky, Dr. Katyal will support CMTA’s focus on improving the lives of those with CMT by providing advanced diagnostic services, personalized treatment plans, educational resources, and support networks that empower patients and their families, fostering hope and community.
