The South Louisiana CMTA Branch is for those who have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and their loved ones. We welcome you to join this vibrant group of active and caring individuals in your area to share resources, ideas, CMT-related information, and personal experiences and to, ultimately, build life-long friendships and support. Meetings will focus on CMT education, awareness, research updates, fundraising initiatives, advocacy, and current events and will include guest speakers. We love newcomers and hope you will join us at our next meeting!
Meet Jessica, a former dedicated employee of the Louisiana 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. She also served for 11 years as a staff assistant to the former Congressman of Louisiana's 2nd District, where she worked to help citizens resolve federal-related issues. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oakwood University and a Master's degree in Healthcare Management. She is a wife and stepmom to two wonderful teenagers. In her free time, Jessica enjoys reviewing perfumes and body care products, reading suspense novels, walking in the park, and spending time with family and friends. As a baby, Jessica was misdiagnosed with general polyneuropathy, but in 2022, she received the correct diagnosis of type 1A Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT).
Sonia Daniels is a passionate business owner and a data nerd who’s all about impact. As the founder of S. Daniels Consulting, she helps mission-driven organizations think bigger and smarter when it comes to their strategy. When she's not deep into numbers or planning for clients, she’s probably soaking up some outdoor time, staying active, or working on her goal of building lean muscle. Sonia is all about balance—between work, wellness, and building meaningful connections. She loves solo travel, creating art, and always making time for a daily walk. Although her consulting firm keeps her busy, she’s making space for life’s other joys—like going fishing, going to a concert or festival, and just enjoying more time with friends and family. Although Sonia hasn't been formally diagnosed with CMT, she's undergone two orthopedic surgeries to correct her foot and ankle alignment and deals with progressive muscle atrophy in all limbs.
