Welcome to our Branch

What Are CMTA Branches?

CMTA Branches are volunteer-led local support and education groups for those living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease and their loved ones. We invite all community members to join these vibrant groups of active and caring individuals in your area to share resources, ideas, CMT-related information, and personal experiences and to, ultimately, build life-long friendships and support. Meetings focus on CMT education, awareness, research updates, fundraising initiatives, advocacy, and current events and will include guest speakers. The branches also offer a meaningful outlet for connecting with others who have CMT. All are welcome to join a branch near them or to participate in a virtual branch meeting.

Jeannie has been a member of the group since its first meeting in 2007. Jeannie became aware of CMT in 1985 when her father was diagnosed. She also has an aunt and a brother with CMT1A, and she was a participant in the Vitamin C trial, one of the first studies to investigate a drug treatment for CMT. A former nutrition support dietician, Jeannie is retired from medical sales and hopes to still have the energy to help this wonderful group and with education, resources, awareness and fundraising. Jeannie and her husband, Alan Segrave, live on Lake Lanier and love to travel. Jeannie also loves to walk and hike with her golden retriever Dash. She is passionate about helping the CMTA in finding a cure and creating a “world without CMT!”
