We welcome you to join this vibrant group of active and caring individuals in your area to share resources, ideas, CMT-related information, and personal experiences and to, ultimately, build life-long friendships and support. Meetings will focus on CMT education, awareness, research updates, fundraising initiatives, advocacy, and current events and will include guest speakers. We love newcomers and hope you will join us at our next meeting!

Barry Hett

Branch Leader Picture
Barry was born in Massachusetts and has lived in Wisconsin since 1995 when a job transfer brought him and his family to the state. He has CMT2 and knew something was up 10 years ago when he was experiencing the first symptoms of muscle cramps and numbness in his foot. He lives in Two Rivers, WI with his wife, best friend and spiritual partner Sue. They have a blended family of 5 children and 6 grandchildren. Barry is a retired HVAC/R technician and Sue is a retired health care worker. They enjoy family time, entertaining friends, traveling & camping in their travel trailer with their dog Archie “da Beagle”, and walking on the beautiful beaches along Lake Michigan. Barry has been leading this branch in NE Wisconsin since its inception in Jan 2021. He says he enjoys leading this branch so that people and families of people that have CMT in this area can network, share and encourage one another. He believes, “There is something therapeutic about sharing experiences and information with people who have and struggle with the same things you do". He also wants to be the conduit that helps connect you to the helpful and valuable information available to us from CMTA. This branch also started an annual "Walk 'n Roll" fundraiser for CMTA/STAR that takes place in September. Together they traverse the paved Mariner's trail along Lake Michigan between Two Rivers and Manitowoc, WI by means of bicycling, tricycling, running, walking or any other means used for mobility, all are welcome. This branch welcomes newcomers who have CMT in their lives whether it be you or a family member because we are: "CMT STRONGER TOGETHER".
