Long Island CMTA Branch

The Long Island CMTA Branch is for those who have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and their loved ones. We welcome you to join this vibrant group of active and caring individuals in your area to share resources, ideas, CMT-related information, and personal experiences and to, ultimately, build life-long friendships and support. Meetings will focus on CMT education, awareness, research updates, fundraising initiatives, advocacy, and current events and will include guest speakers. We love newcomers and hope you will join us at our next meeting!

Branch Leader Picture
Alessandro has CMT2A. After a lifetime of assuming he was just clumsy and several years of going to different doctors in the hopes of finding out why he was experiencing his various symptoms, Alessandro finally received the appropriate diagnosis in 2019. Since then, he has been on a mission to learn everything he can about CMT and recently connected with the CMTA when they held their first walk on Long Island, New York. Alessandro is passionate about advocating for greater awareness and support for CMT, and after attending his first CMTA conference in 2019 - he is excited to be leading the Long Island CMTA Branch. He welcomes all Long Islanders affected by CMTA to join him at this new branch, and looks forward to sharing resources and knowledge, and helping to support one another on their individual CMTA journeys. Alessandro lives in Hauppauge, NY with his wonderfully supportive wife, son, and daughter along with their Corgi dog and family cat.
